休閒農業區面積806公項，以種稙茶樹及文旦柚為主，多數的山坡地為保護林地，是宜蘭縣內最好的生態旅遊場所。位於冬山河上游，為冬山河發源地之一，規劃面積約806公頃，目前產業數量50戶，行政區域則以中山村為主體，其他還包括了大進、丸山與八寶村，區內有大量湧泉及伏流，如小埤湖、丸山等，屬於典型的農村，區內以種植茶樹及果樹為主，多數的山坡地均為保護林地，水土保持非常完整，是宜蘭縣境內最好的生態旅遊場所。其中中山村民利用乾枯的河床放牛吃草，生態農法的應用更榮獲九十二年全國休閒農漁園區創意大賽的冠軍。

地勢較高的區域是縣政府管理經營的「仁山苗圃」，登上清幽的健康步道可以遠眺美麗的蘭陽平原。近年來由於休閒農業的發展，鄉內茶農也紛紛投入轉型經營的行列，除了讓遊客品茗，還提供了採茶、製茶、茶凍以及茶燻蛋等體驗活動與民宿服務，可以循著設置在分岔路口的明顯指標找到農場與民宿，在休閒農業區內亦可租借電動腳踏車，迎著陣陣撲鼻的茶香，環視道路兩旁綠油油的茶園，是休閒活動也是難得的生活體驗。

Jhong Shan, one of the first pilot Agriculture Leisure Area in Taiwan, is situated at the upstream region of the Dongshan River with tea and fruit trees as its primary products. The farm, surrounded by historic spots and tour routes, is aimed to promote recreational agriculture, where modern people can take away stress, relive farm life, and enjoy the nature and wilderness. A number of tea growers are joining the ranks of recreational farming, offering various hands-on activities, like tea sipping, tea-leaf picking, and tea making. If you like something new, a variety of tea-flavored foods are available. There are plenty of B & Bs around the neighborhood, most of which feature tea-related activities. Springs and underground water are commonly seen in this region. Xinliao Falls and Renshan Botanical Garden are two famous places. Don’t miss them.
